Description
Sharks can be take on a fly and an orange, bulky fly, tied on a big hook, is a good choice when doing so. This BAM (Big Ass Muddler) fly was developed by Scott Hamilton for fishing for spinner sharks out of Palm Beach, Florida. The most unusual piece of gear that you’ll need when fly fishing for sharks is also the most important – single strand wire leader. Sharks have really, really sharp teeth and really, really strong jaws. Coated, ‘knot-able’ braided wire that works fine for barracudas will not cut the mustard with sharks. You'll also need a really big stick, like a 12 weight or more, and a big reel with lots of backing capacity and a very durable drag.
