Decker Lake is fishing really good right now with many bass along the weeds. With the lake level lowered there are no boats, so it is ideal for kayak fishing. We will meet at the boat ramp around 7AM. This is a holiday weekend so best to be there early as the park will be at capacity. There are plenty of big bass and hybrid stripers in Decker so bring a 6wt or bigger. Bass poppers and streamers fished along the weedlines should produce good results. Email Gary or Carol if you have any questions.

Steven says:
Fish Clousers and anything that looks like a frog or shad. Dahlberg Divers and Lunch Moneys in shad colors have been very productive on bass. Fish the edges of the submerged weed beds. 6-7 wt rod with 9 ft leader and 12 – 15lb tippet either sinking or floating line. Stephen fishes two rods, one with a sinking line and one with floating line.

Most folks will be kayaking, however, there is plenty of shoreline to practice casting and maybe catch a bass or sunfish along the shore. If kayaking, bring a USCG approved life jacket, whistle, hat, polarized sunglasses, sun screen, and fishing license.

This is a City owned park and may be subject to inspections on a holiday weekend. Decker Lake is a zebra mussel infested body of water, so you are required by law to clean, drain and dry all gear before traveling to another water body.

After a fun morning of fishing, we will gather for lunch at Don’s BBQ, 10003 FM 969, Austin Tx 78724.
